I can't believe Thanksgiving is already here! This week, we have many great covers and books worth speculating on. It may be one of the heaviest weeks we have had in some time!
FOC Cover Buys
BEWARE THE PLANET OF THE APES #1 - SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT
FALL OF THE HOUSE OF X #1 - SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT
SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD #2 - SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT
Although I am not particularly fond of any of the three series, I am a huge admirer of Skottie Young's artwork, especially his covers. These three covers are undoubtedly classic Skottie Young and I usually order a few extra copies to sell and keep a few for the PC. His work is sought after and there is always a demand for it.
HARLEY QUINN BLACK WHITE REDDER #6 - JENNY FRISON
HARLEY QUINN BLACK WHITE REDDER #6 - TEDESCO
You can't go wrong with either of these covers. If I had to choose one, I would certainly go for the Tedesco, but seeing as this series hasn't been heavily ordered, I think they both will be sought after down the road in the aftermarket.
JOKER HARLEY QUINN UNCOVERED #1 CVR D ALEX ROSS FOIL VARIANT
I'm not a huge fan of the Uncovered series, as I prefer just collecting the actual books, but the foil variants on these have been doing well. I sold quite a few of the Poison Ivy Uncovered foil variants, and I expect this Harley Quinn to do better and have some long-term promise, with this being an iconic cover and a much more popular character.
TIMELESS 1 [2023] FELIPE MASSAFERA SPOILER VARIANT
While this is a decent spec pick with Doom as Sorcerer Supreme and the debut of two new Marvel Icons, This cover is absolutely amazing.
DWELLINGS #3 JAY STEPHENS 1:10 INCENTIVE BLOODY VARIANT
Dwellings has been a great read, and the covers have been excellent. Definitely bummed that this is the last issue of this run. The Bloody variants have been doing exceptionally well, selling between $30 - $50, although they drop slightly after release. Still, I think these are good long-term holds, as the $9.99 cover price nearly guarantees a certain amount of scarcity.
STAR WARS: DARK DROIDS 5 RACHAEL STOTT SCOURGED VIRGIN VARIANT 1:100
While I like this cover (all the scourged covers have been well done), I am not so certain this book can maintain the current asking price of over $200. It's Star Wars, so you already know it's been ordered heavily and is not a key. I say be patient and see if you can snag a copy after release for around ratio.
FALL OF THE HOUSE OF X #1 ARTGERM 1:50 INCENTIVE VIRGIN VARIANT
Currently selling double the ratio, I expect the Magik fans to keep it around there. Artgerm is always in demand and finally, there is no trade dress variant for this cover either!
WONDER WOMAN #4 PABLO VILLALOBOS SANTA CARD STOCK VARIANT
With the right artwork, Holiday variants can heat up. I'm betting on this Wonder Woman cover this week.
SUPERMAN #9 MIKEL JANIN SANTA CARD STOCK VARIANT
This homage is overdone, but it is fun and worth stashing one in the PC.
SPIDER-WOMAN 2 DAVID NAKAYAMA SKI CHALET VARIANT
Marvel's chalet variants have not been as impressive as DC's Holiday covers, but this Nakayama cover is amazing. Grab a few to keep.
SUPERMAN #9 CVR F INC 1:25 NATHAN SZERDY
In my opinion, the latest version of Superman isn't very exciting as he just gets new armor. However, the artist Szerdy has done an excellent job with the minor characters. The sales have been all over the place on Ebay. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than the ratio for this book.
Spec Picks
Miguel O'Hara - Spider-Man: 2099 #1
First Appearance Of Marvel Zombies 2099. I'll stash an extra, never know what will happen with the 2099 universe.
STAR WARS: DEATH VADER #42
Minor first full appearance, but always get Star Wars keys. Always.
TIMELESS #1 (2023)
I touched on this in the cover buys section - the solicitation was pretty vague, but I am still mad that I didn't take Miss Minutes seriously with the launch of Timeless.
DEVIANT #1 SECOND PRINTING
The Deviant is a bit twisted but certainly something I can see being optioned down the road, and Tynion's work is sought after. I am not a huge fan of collecting multiple prints, but the later prints can hit occasionally.
GHOST RIDER #21
The final issue of this entertaining run, solicitations, suggests there will be a new Ghost Rider in the next volume. I will pick up an extra copy or two, hoping we get a cameo appearance.
TRANSFORMERS #2 SECOND PRINTING
Another second printing, at least this has the first cover appearance of Duke in the Energon Universe. This is a no-brainer.
